The OO Magic Box is an all-in-one ready-to-fruit kit that contains a bag of organic substrate infused with mushroom mycelium, ready for you to start growing your own mushrooms at home. Our kits are designed to be easy to use - just cut and spray and get ready for your harvest. 

The magic box is a self-contained ready-to-fruit kit that just needs water and air. We provide a spray bottle with the kit so that you can easily "mist" the magic box

The kit has a shelf life of 3 months from the date of manufacture. However, please remember that the “box” is actually a living organism and sometimes, owing to shipping mishaps or factors beyond our control, the kit can start fruiting inside the box if left unused for too long. Conversely, sometimes, the mycelium might die if the kit is stored in poor conditions for too long. So, open your kit and give it the love and attention it needs!

Using your kit is easy-peasy bottle squeezy! 

1. Tear open the perforation on the box. 
2. Cut an 'X' in the exposed area. 
3. Spray water twice a day using the spray bottle provided with the magic box. 
4. Keep it in a cool and well-ventilated area. 
5. Watch the magic happen as your mushrooms start to grow. Finally, once the mushrooms have bloomed and the edges start to curl, they are ready to harvest!

Mushrooms can sometimes grow in odd shapes, especially if they don't get enough moisture or oxygen. For example, lack of fresh oxygen-rich air can lead to thin mushrooms or mushrooms with fleshy stems and small caps. Don't worry though, they'll still taste great!

After all, it’s not the size but how you use it that matters!

We recommend keeping the substrate block inside the box to ensure the best results. The box and the perforation help concentrate the fruiting only at the designated area, maintain moisture levels, reduce the probability of contamination, and give better yields/harvests. 

If you think  that your kit is contaminated, gently open the outer box and check the inner substrate bag for green, blue, or black patches. If you find any signs of contamination, please contact us so that we can help you with a replacement kit.

Our mushroom growing kits are designed to provide two harvests if all instructions are followed correctly and the kit is maintained under the right conditions.

It generally takes 4-7 days for the mushrooms to mature once they have started pinning. When The mushrooms have grown to their intended size, their edges will start to curl. This is the best time to harvest them. Another indicator that your mushrooms have matured is that they will start producing spores. You will see a whitish powder below the gills of the mushrooms. 

For best results, keep your mushroom growing kit in a well-ventilated space with indirect light and high humidity. Oyster mushrooms thrive in these conditions. 

Our Oyster Mushroom Magic Box should give you a yield between 200-250 gms over two harvests. The first harvest is generally a larger one with the subsequent ones being smaller as the nutrients in the kit begin to get exhausted.

You should get at least two harvests; the first in approximately 10 days, and the subsequent harvest in approximately 2 weeks from the first harvest. There might be more harvests as the grow box is designed to give you multiple harvests across 10 weeks. However, the yields and subsequent harvests are dependent on the growing conditions, ambient temperatures, and the love you show your kit. 

Pinning should start within a week of cutting open the bag, and it may take an additional week or so for the mushrooms to mature, depending on the environment and care provided.

Ofcourse! Just don’t eat the substrate :P

If you have a compost bin/pit, look no further as the remaining mycelium helps break down matter and can accelerate the composting process. Just tear open the bag the substrate is in, and crumble the substrate within. The spent substrate can be added into your compost bin and will be ready in about 2 weeks, as the mycelium has broken down almost 90% of the organic matter already. Additionally, the spent substrate also makes for an excellent potting mix. 

Once harvested, you can refrigerate your mushrooms for one week. Alternatively, you can trim them and then sun-dry the mushrooms for a day until they are crisp. If stored correctly in an airtight container, they can last up to a year!
